What is it?
Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the plantar fascia, a thick band of tissue connecting the heel to the toes. It causes sharp heel pain, especially in the morning or after long periods of rest.
Symptoms:
Stabbing pain in the heel (particularly in the morning)
Pain after standing or walking for long periods
Tenderness along the bottom of the foot
Causes:
Overuse from running or standing all day
Flat feet or high arches
Worn-out or unsupportive shoes
Treatment:
Plantar fasciitis treatment includes stretching exercises, custom orthotics, and footwear adjustments.
Rolling a frozen water bottle under the foot can help reduce inflammation.
Wearing supportive shoes with good arch support minimises strain.
